For much of my life, I lived by checklists. Now I’m in a world without checklists, so here’s my attempt to break it down to the essentials of what I need to do every day.
- Get out of bed (after having suffered major depression, this is not a given)
- Make bed (proven to increase your sense of accomplishment and self-confidence)
- Take medication
- Coffee
- Read Bible (Begin with a spiritual openness to finding out what the creator has to say to me today)
- Write down one thing I’m grateful for today (grateful people are happy people)
- Exercise
- Shower (it always makes me feel better)
- Eat breakfast
- Brush teeth (“first act of kindness of the day”)
- Drink water
- Make lunch
- Decide what to listen to on the way to work that will encourage me today
- Drive to Work
- Drink water
- Eat lunch
- Take a short exercise break every hour
- Engage in a meaningful conversation with one coworker today
- Leave work on time
- Prepare my mind and heart for re-entry into family life
- Kiss my wife hello
- Greet each of my kiddos with joy and a smile
- Help prepare for dinner
- Engage in meaningful conversation at the dinner table
- Help clean up dinner
- Check on status of each kiddo
- Read
- Write
- Brush teeth
- Floss
- Medication
- Crash
What things would you add or take out of your meaningful life routine?
